Cauliflower curry

This is from ‘The Slow Cook Book’ which is a DK publication- DK tend to publish quite good ‘how to’ books so I was hopeful that this would have a good outcome.  I’ve had the book for ages but unsurprisingly haven’t yet used it, but having been ill for the last week I wanted something easy and undemanding- something the slow cooker always delivers.  This is mainly for the benefit of the veggie boyf who is always difficult to please.

Brussels sprouts, mozzarella, dill

This should be smoked mozzarella but that could not be found in the Asda near the deprived part of Manchester that I work in, so I went unsmoked.
Again, this is Nigel from autumn, winter Greenfeast.  I had no idea how it was going to turn out but completely put my faith in Nigel.  He’d suggested adding pasta to the bake which I did and so this became a really hearty meal.  I thought the topping was amazing but the rest of the dish for me was just alright.  My vegetarian boyf, on the other hand, declared it ‘a triumph’, and also loved the topping.
I doubt that I’d make this again.

Orecchiette, cauliflower, cheese

This is from Nigel Slater’s Autumn/winter Greenfeast, which I was delighted to receive as a Christmas present last year.   I must say I had to use conchiglie rather than orrechiette and  replaced dill with sage as that is what I had in.  I also cut down the Parmesan by about 70g as it just seemed so excessive for a Monday night.  Also I added some of the pasta water to the sauce to make it silky.  This was pure comfort food, every mouthful a total treat and I’ll definitely make it again - this got the thumbs up from the vegetarian boyf and his flexitarian son also.
