Sicilian vinegar chicken

From Nigella Summer comes this tasty delight, which appealed to me as I had everything necessary ‘in’.  Seemingly not the most mouth watering of titles or the prettiest thing I’ve ever made but this really packed a flavour punch. Everything was right with this, which I had this time with lemon rice, and I can see me having this again and again

Crunchy top lime cake

I’ve improvised this one which was originally lemon cake and is in Mary Berry’s Baking Bible, because I wanted to make a cake from what I had in and so lime it was. Unfortunately I also didn’t have enough caster sugar in to make the topping as crunchy as Mary says but I got the basic idea.  The cake itself is beautifully light and delicately flavoured.

Gingery Duck with red onion and orange salad 

This is Nigella’s take on duck a l’orange from Nigella Summer and I can confirm that this is the stuff of dreams.  If I’d had this in a restaurant (I’m thinking a smaller version as a starter) I would not be disappointed.  The coming together of the the raw red onion with the orange and the duck was something really special.  Certainly one to add to the repertoire.
